From Perth, 4-Day Coastal Loop to Monkey Mia Comfort Level

Embark on an exhilarating four-day journey along the coast from Perth to Monkey Mia. This itinerary offers a comprehensive exploration of the breathtaking natural attractions in this enchanting region. Day 1: Perth to Kalbarri

On Day 1, our coastal loop adventure commences with a picturesque walk along the Greenhead Three Bays Walks, situated along the scenic shores of Perth. Following this, we enjoy a delightful lunch at Dynamite Bay, one of the highlights of the Three Bays Walk. Subsequently, we embark upon a journey up Indian Ocean Drive, captivated by the breathtaking coastal vistas unfolding before us. Our next destination beckons us closer to Geraldton; however, en route, we pause at the Hutt Lagoon Pink Lake, a must-visit sight nestled just outside the bustling township. Upon reaching Kalbarri, we proceed to explore the Natural Bridge and subsequently, a leisurely walk along Castle Cove. We conclude our first day in Kalbarri, enjoying an overnight stay at the serene Kalbarri Edge Resort, where the Murchison River flows into the Indian Ocean. For meals, there are no specific arrangements noted, but accommodation details are provided.

Day 2: Kalbarri to Monkey Mia

Starting early, our exploration takes us to witness the awe-inspiring Murchison Gorge, Nature’s Window, and the Kalbarri Skywalk. Next, we delve into the mesmerizing wonders of The Murchison Gorge at the Hawkes Head Lookout, where the natural forces have etched their path through the layers of sandstone. In Kalbarri National Park, we also visit the renowned Billabong Roadhouse, offering lunch and refreshments (guests’ expense) from the iconic landmark that has been welcoming visitors to Western Australia since 1962. Proceeding onward, we pay homage to the remarkable Shell Beach, traversing a sandy expanse covered entirely by tiny shells. Our next leg brings us to Monkey Mia Dolphin Resort, located right on the beach, where we can observe the resident dolphins in their natural habitat within the UNESCO-listed Shark Bay area. Additionally, free time offers opportunities to rent kayaks, relax on the pristine beaches, or search for turtles, dugongs, emus, and kangaroos.

Day 3: Monkey Mia to Geraldton

Following this, we venture into Denham, exploring the foreshore and admiring the spectacular cliff views overlooking Shark Bay. Wildlife enthusiasts might also wish to spot eagles perched atop Eagle Bluff. We continue our journey with photo stops at Galena Bridge and Coronation Beach, followed by heading towards our final overnight stay in Geraldton. Meals for Day 3 consist of breakfast. Accommodation is secured at the Hospitality Geraldton Motel. Distance traveled for Day 3 is roughly 385 kilometers.

Day 4: Geraldton to Perth

Our journey concludes with a visit to the HMAS Sydney Memorial, showcasing panoramic views of Geraldton. Next, we inspect the Point Moore Lighthouse in Geraldton. Continuing on, we undertake a walk along the foreshore, ending our journey at the lookout point. Later, we make our way to Jurien Bay, where a walk along the Jetty awaits. Proceeding further, we arrive in Cervantes, where we enjoy a delightful meal at the Lobster Shack, accompanied by a guided tour of the local lobster factory. Finally, we reach Nambung National Park, allowing us to explore the Pinnacles Desert. The remainder of our trip concludes with a relaxing bus ride back to Perth by 6:30 PM.
