Visiting the Chittorgarh Fort, you shall discover the sprawling 280-hectare area on a hilltop overlooking the Berach Valley, where various historical structures such as palaces, gates, temples, and commemorative towers stand testament to its rich past. It is believed that Sultan Alauddin Khalji, upon witnessing Rani Padmini’s grace and nobility, succumbed to his desires and vowed to take her captive if she allowed him to. However, the valiant queen chose to sacrifice herself rather than submit to dishonorable treatment, famously committing Jauhar, a mass self-immolation ritual.

Among the fort’s significant features, explore the 9-meter wide Vijaya Stambha or Tower of Victory, erected by Rana Kumbha in 1448 to honor his triumph over Mahmud Khilji. Dedicated to Lord Vishnu, this tower stands as a symbol of Mewar’s valorous victories.

Another noteworthy structure is the Kriti Stambha or Tower of Fame, a Solanki-style architectural marvel measuring 22 meters in length. Built by the first Jain Tirthankar, this tower commemorates the kingdom’s conquests and serves as a tribute to divine power.
