During this tour, visitors have the opportunity to explore one of the most revered pilgrimage sites within the Armenian Apostolic Church – the Monastery of Khor Virap. Situated atop the snow-capped slopes of Mount Ararat, this historic location offers an unparalleled panoramic view of the surrounding landscape. Legend has it that during his imprisonment here for thirteen years, Saint Gregory the Illuminator miraculously cured King Trdat III of his ailment, thus catalyzing the conversion of Armenia to Christianity in 301 CE.

The monastery's name derives from the Persian word "khor," meaning "pit," aptly reflecting the prison cell in which Saint Gregory spent much of his time. Today, tourists can access this atmospheric setting by ascending via a narrow staircase, allowing them to truly immerse themselves in the rich history and spiritual significance of this sacred site.
