Paraty, Gold Trail Rainforest Hiking Tour

On the designated day, participants embark upon a guided exploration of the historical significance of Paraty within Brazil’s rich tapestry of colonial heritage. This journey begins with a rendezvous at the predetermined location, whereupon they proceed to the nearest bus terminal to commence their ascent along a well-trod path known as the "Gold Trail." This route traverses approximately 3.6 kilometers, intertwining with the remnants of the once-grand Gold Route that connected Paraty and Diamantina, two bustling cities renowned for their extensive deposits of precious metals, including gold and diamonds. Both these sites have been declared UNESCO World Heritage Sites due to their substantial contributions to the world of mining.

As they ascend, participants engage in insightful discourse with their seasoned guide, who narrates tales of the past, emphasizing the pivotal role Paraty played in facilitating trade and commerce between the indigenous populations and European settlers. They recount the arduous journeys undertaken by troperos—local horsemen—who carried heavy loads of gold and other treasures over treacherous terrain.
