Kilimanjaro coffee, waterfalls, village walk and Hotsprings

Location Materuni Waterfall, Arusha, Tanzania

APE LIMITED

Embark on an enriching adventure through the breathtaking landscapes of Mount Kilimanjaro, where you will experience unparalleled natural beauty. This full-day excursion takes you to Materuni Village, renowned for its picturesque coffee farms and cascading waterfalls, offering a delightful contrast against the majestic mountain backdrop. Following your exploration, venture into the serene countryside to immerse yourself in the therapeutic wonders of Chemka Hot Springs, perfect for rejuvenation and relaxation amidst nature's embrace.

We will pick you up in the morning from your hotel in Arusha, Moshi, or upon your arrival at Kilimanjaro/Arusha airports in a clean, air-conditioned vehicle and drive short distances to Materuni Village. Materuni Village remains an authentic tribal village inhabited by the Chagga tribe, located near the border between Kilimanjaro National Park and the Tanzanian Highlands. Our itinerary begins with a village walk where you'll embark on a scenic journey to visit Materuni Waterfalls, approximately a 45-minute trek. Along this route, you'll engage with your guide to learn about the Chagga tribe's culture, daily life, and the surrounding natural beauty. Marvel at the awe-inspiring waterfalls, which are over 80 meters (262 feet) tall, offering breathtaking vistas.

Upon reaching the falls, enjoy a traditional Chagga lunch prepared by your guide. Afterward, you'll explore the vibrant village atmosphere as well as sample our locally crafted banana beer. Coffee Ceremony:
Join us for an unforgettable cultural immersion experience. Your guide will invite you to assist in the grinding process of the coffee beans, which is typically followed by lively Chagga music and dance performances—a perfect opportunity to absorb Tanzanian traditions. With your freshly ground coffee, you'll brew a traditional cup of coffee, allowing you to taste and understand the intricacies of Tanzania’s coffee industry firsthand.

Following the coffee ceremony, you'll continue to Chemka/Kikuletwa Hot Springs, a serene oasis nestled amidst the Tanzanian landscape. The round-trip journey to and from the hot springs takes approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes, during which you can choose whether to relax in the sun, converse with locals at the nearby bar, or swim in the crystal-clear waters of the spring. We depart the hot springs shortly after sunset, ensuring a relaxing evening back at your hotel in either Arusha or Moshi.

Throughout our expedition, we aim to capture the essence of Mount Kilimanjaro while providing ample opportunities for photography.
