Makasutu Cultural Forest

The journey from the tourist area to Makasutu via car shall take approximately 45 minutes.

We will arrange transportation to your accommodation, followed by a journey of approximately 45 minutes to one hour, contingent upon traffic conditions, to Makasutu Forest. Upon arrival, a knowledgeable guide will introduce you to the diverse ecosystem of the forest. Subsequently, we will embark on a boat tour along the mangrove swamps, during which we can observe various species of oysters thriving within these coastal waters.

The highlight of this excursion includes ascending a scenic observation tower, offering panoramic views of the surrounding landscape. Following the tower visit, we proceed with a guided walk through the dense forest canopy. During this exploration, we will encounter a variety of monkey species, including baboons, and learn about their natural habitats. Our guide will provide insights into the medicinal properties of local flora and fauna, demonstrating traditional remedies for common ailments.

After enjoying the lush vegetation, we move on to witness palm tree farming techniques firsthand. A skilled technician will demonstrate the process of climbing tall palms, showcasing the unique challenges involved in harvesting palm sap. Additionally, visitors have the chance to participate in this activity themselves, providing hands-on experience with the intricacies of palm fruit collection.

Our itinerary concludes with a leisurely lunch served either within the forest grounds or in nearby Brikama. Following the meal, we'll return to your accommodation via comfortable vehicle transport, ensuring a smooth and enjoyable journey home.
