Location Materuni Waterfall, Moshi, Tanzania

APE LIMITED

Materuni village, situated at the foot of Mount Kilimanjaro, offers visitors an immersive experience into the rich cultural heritage of this iconic region. Exploring Materuni allows one to delve deep into the traditional lifestyle, historical significance, and culinary delights of the area.

We will commence our journey in the early hours of the morning, departing from your accommodation in Moshi, Arusha, or at the Kilimanjaro/Arusha airport. We shall travel in a clean, air-conditioned vehicle for approximately 15 minutes to reach Materuni Village. This charming settlement, nestled within the heart of the Chagga tribe, serves as the gateway to the Kilimanjaro National Park.

Upon arrival, we embark on a guided tour through the village, where we'll engage in a cultural exploration led by our knowledgeable guide. Our itinerary begins with a village walk, which takes us to the picturesque Materuni Waterfalls. These natural wonders stand tall, boasting a height exceeding 80 meters, offering awe-inspiring vistas along their cascade. Alongside the scenic route, we'll uncover the rich tapestry of the Chagga tribe's lifestyle and the biodiversity that surrounds them.

As we traverse this challenging terrain, equipped with sturdy footwear and waterproof gear, we might encounter some rough patches, particularly during rainy seasons. Therefore, it would be prudent to bring along comfortable walking shoes with excellent traction and a raincoat for added protection against the elements.

Upon reaching the waterfall, we invite you to partake in a leisurely rest, admiring the mesmerizing spectacle before us. As dusk approaches, we proceed back towards Materuni Village, where we will enjoy a sumptuous traditional Chagga lunch, complemented by a delightful tasting of our locally brewed banana beer.

The afternoon is reserved for exploring the lush surroundings of Mount Kilimanjaro, providing ample opportunities to capture stunning photographs. This serene environment offers an unparalleled setting for immersing oneself in Tanzanian culture while engaging with the locals through various activities such as participating in the coffee ceremony.

Throughout our day, we aim to provide a comprehensive understanding of Tanzania’s coffee industry, allowing participants to sample freshly ground coffee and learn about its production methods. Following the conclusion of our activities, we facilitate a farewell session, during which guests can savour the coffee they prepared earlier and relish the panoramic views of the surrounding rainforests.

In summary, this adventure promises an enriching blend of natural beauty, cultural immersion, and culinary delights, ensuring an unforgettable experience amidst the breathtaking landscapes of Tanzania.
