Green is the primary hue in this itinerary, leading us towards northern Cluj-Napoca with the aim of exploring the natural wonders of Salaj County. Our journey includes five distinct destinations: the Garden of Dragons, Jibou Botanical Garden, the Lavender Field, the Roman Castrum Porolissum, and the Wooden Church in Breb. This excursion caters to travelers seeking immersive experiences in nature and an opportunity to learn about Romania’s rich biodiversity and flora and fauna, making it an ideal choice for those interested in unexplored aspects of Romanian tourism. However, if you're passionate about nature and looking to enjoy a relaxed outing with your loved ones or close friends, this day trip is undoubtedly tailored just for you.

The Garden of Dragons:

This extraordinary landscape stands out globally. Nestled within the Sălaj County Natural Park, this protected area is renowned for its unique geological and scenic features. Over millions of years, these formations were shaped through erosion, weathering, and plant life interaction, resulting in various shapes and sizes. As such, the Dragon rocks exhibit continuous changes due to environmental factors like wind, rain, and snow, creating a dynamic beauty that captivates both visitors and scientists alike.

Situated at an elevation of approximately 272 meters above sea level, the garden is shielded from harsh climatic conditions by surrounding hills. These geographical advantages contribute to a stable and hospitable environment where a wide variety of plant species can thrive. The botanical collection here encompasses over 5,000 species of plants originating from numerous parts of the globe, reflecting the region’s diverse ecosystems.

Founded in 1957 under the visionary leadership of Professor Vasile Fati, the Jibou Botanical Garden was initially established at Wesselenyi Castle High School. Recognized for its innovative approach to horticulture, it has since become one of the most recent botanical gardens in Romania. Initially conceived as a means to capitalize on the educational potential of the local landscape, the garden now serves as a testament to human ingenuity and ecological preservation.
