Puerto Madryn, Excursion to Peninsula Valdes Classic

Experience an unforgettable day filled with excitement and wildlife viewing during our engaging tour. This comprehensive excursion offers visitors the chance to explore the vibrant flora and fauna of Puerto Madryn. Indulge in a memorable journey through the picturesque Peninsula Valdes National Park.

The tour commences early in the morning, heading towards the Valdés Peninsula Protected Natural Area, recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Following an hour of travel, guests will reach the charming ecological village of Puerto Pirámides, where they may choose to embark upon the Regular Traditional Right Whale Watching activity (available during June to November), or witness the playful antics of sea lions and cormorants (present from December to March). In the months of April and mid-June, no navigational activities take place.

For lunch, options are available either at Puerto Pirámides or Caleta Valdés. Guests will then have ample opportunity to explore the southern portion of the peninsula, traversing expansive grasslands and undulating terrains. Highlights include the Salinas Grande and Chica, and Punta Delgada, marking the peninsula's southern boundary.

Upon reaching Punta Cantor, visitors will marvel at the captivating Atlantic coastline and its unique geological formations, known as Caleta Valdés. This region typically attracts southern elephant seals, the world's largest seals, who inhabit these sandy shores throughout various seasons.

Depending on the season and conditions permitting, travelers might opt for replacing the southern areas of Las Salinas and Caleta Valdés with Punta Norte. Following their exploration of Punta Norte, guests will proceed on their journey back, stopping briefly at the Carlos Ameghino Interpretation Center, a comprehensive repository of the peninsula's natural heritage.

This expedition offers numerous opportunities to observe diverse terrestrial wildlife, including guanacos, rheas, foxes, maras, armadillos, and skunks. Throughout the year, land excursions are accessible; whale watching aboard ships takes place from mid-June to November, while nautical walks commence in December until the end of March. During the period from April to mid-May, no navigational activities are conducted.
