Royal Sportsman Hotel

Situated at the quieter end of Porthmadog High Street, the independently owned Royal Sportsman Hotel is the only place to stay in town. It has earned two AA Rosettes and feels like a true home away from home, offering modern cuisine, a bar featuring locally brewed cask ales, plus complimentary WiFi and parking throughout.

Guests can enjoy the hotel’s full-service restaurant, which holds two AA Rosettes, with meals served at breakfast, lunch (including a traditional Sunday roast), afternoon tea, and dinner. There’s also a gastro-bar pouring real local ales, along with a patio and lounge area. Both residents and non-residents are welcome.

Just a short walk from the hotel lies the heritage Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Railway terminal, with routes running to Blaenau Ffestiniog and Caernarfon. Train journeys cross the Glaslyn Estuary and travel through Snowdonia to reach Blaenau Ffestiniog.

The Royal Sportsman is rated three stars by both the AA and Visit Wales. Built using local slate, its bar and lounge feature original stone and slate fireplaces, while the Tourist Information Centre and the Picture Postcard Walk are within easy walking distance.
